How to: import and export revisions

Revert

With the import/export feature in the Revision tab, you can undo or redo changes made to a specific topic. This is especially helpful if you or your team member accidentally made a change you want to quickly revert.

In this article, we’ll show you how to do it.

Export a revision

Each revision has an export option. Use it to create backups of changes you have made to a topic. Note that only steps will be exported, not the topic title and settings like context paths, these are not under version control system.

To export a revision:

  1. Go to Topics and click the topic ID of the topic you want to manage.

  1. Go to Revisions tab.

  1. Click the export icon and save a file. The file will be in .json format.

Import a revision

If you want to redo or undo changes on your topic by using one of your backup files, use the import option.

To import revision:

  1. Go to Topics and click the topic ID of the topic you want to manage.

  1. Go to Revisions tab.

  1. Click Import revision button.

  1. This will open up a dialogue box to attach the file. Attach a file and click Import.

In the comment field, you can provide information such as why you’re importing this revision. It will be then visible as the revision comment in the overview and may be useful for other users.
