By default, all content you create appears in the widget. However, you may want to add a topic but not have it visible in the widget. There are other ways to launch a topic that you may want to take advantage of, for example, launch a topic from a link, a tooltip, or via the JavaScript API.
In this article, we’ll show you how to remove a topic from the widget.
Hiding a topic
- Login to the Inline Manual portal with your e-mail and password.
- Go to Sites and choose a correct site.
- Go to the Widget tab.
- Click the "x" button to remove the topic from the widget.
- Save and publish changes.
Done!
When to hide a topic?
You may want to hide a topic when you are sending out a newsletter about new features and you want to include a link to launch a relevant walkthrough. You don't want to show this walkthrough within the widget. When you hide a topic, it can still be triggered by a link though it won’t be visible in the widget.
Hiding a topic is also useful when your support team notices that there is a frequently asked question about a new feature, and some users are getting lost. You can create a walkthrough, and then send the direct link to confused users. In this case, you may want to hide the topic, so that other users are not distracted.
